There are many ways for you to get involved at SJPC! Below is a list of our Ministry Concentrations. We would love participation in each of these areas from the congregation! Please let us know how you would like to be involved in these important areas of our church’s life.
Leadership & Administration:
Oversee all personnel matters including annual reviews, salary recommendations, changes in staffing. Oversees administrative spending, policy and procedures, and position descriptions.
Christian Education:
Adult Education: Sunday school classes, Wholly Wednesday adult classes.
Children’s ministry: Sunday school ages 3 – 5th grade, 9am & 11am Children’s church, KFCC, We-Tweens, VBS
Special Areas: Library, Nursery, Special Educational Events
Youth:
Development of parent advisory board, work with Matt & Andrea to provide support, act as liaison with Pastor Vince.
Stewardship & Finance:
Oversee all financial assets of SJPC including general fund, trusts and investments. Create and implement annual stewardship campaign. Oversee budgeting process, planned giving and annual financial review. Work closely with treasurer and bookkeeper to insure good practices.
Worship:
Oversee 9am & 11am worship services, special services, music programs, chancel guild, possible formation of funeral guild
Mission & Outreach:
Annually review local and global mission opportunities and determine appropriate giving opportunities. Annual support of PC(USA) offerings and mission. Oversee benevolence fund. Encourage active participation in local and global mission opportunities.
Global mission: Solace for the Children, Mutual Mission Exchange, etc.
Local mission: DESC, UCOM, ICARE, Sanctuary on 8th Street, Salzbacher, etc.
Evangelism:
Advertising: Oversee and create ways to facilitate the church’s efforts to attract others to join in the ministry of the church. Website and Scroll oversight, as well as developing other ways of communication.
Discipleship: proclaiming the Good News by helping newcomers feel welcome, assimilation, information, etc. Includes developing a regular attendee/new member class.
Apostle’s Program: Assign “apostles” to walk with new members in their journey. Organize dinners and other functions to assimilate new members.
Member Care:
Homebound Shepherds: Coordinate lay homebound program and follow through with shepherds. Provide support and instruction to shepherds. Keep homebound list updated. Coordinate with pastors when homebound members would like to receive communion.
Almost Homebound & Inactive Members: Develop and coordinate a new ministry to reach out to our inactive members and provide support to those who are less active than they used to be. Develop new initiatives such as a card ministry. Supplement pastors hospital visits
Active membership: Develop and coordinate new ministry to keep in closer touch with our active membership. Ideas include follow up on absences, card ministry for birthdays, etc.
Fellowship:
Develop and coordinate opportunities for members to join in fellowship.
Wholly Wednesday Dinners: Set tables, decorate tables, collect money, help coordinate volunteers for cleanup.
Easter Egg Hunt: Annual event on Palm Sunday.
Other Events: Including but not limited to Suns Games, Fall Festivals, movie nights, bingo nights, etc.
Buildings & Grounds:
Oversee church buildings and grounds.
Site Plan:
Coordinate ongoing work of the site plan task group and architects.
Chair of Preschool Executive Committee:
Work with preschool director and executive committee and make reports to session.
