The following classes are offered on Sunday mornings at 10-10:45AM between services, for adults wishing to study God’s word

Adams-Weaver Class (Parlor)
This Bible study is using the Uniform Lesson series “The Present Word.” It is from beginning to end a Bible study series. Teachers and learners come together to reflect on the Biblical text and to act on what they discover there. This is the South Jax’s longest running class.  Won’t you join teachers Harriette Dodson, Cynthia Montgomery, Elliott Adams and Dan Rush as we explore God’s Word to us? All ages are welcome!

Foundations (Room 221)
The Foundations Sunday school class is a discussion oriented class that draws on all that are present to discuss and discern the fundamentals of our Christian faith and practice. The class studies not only the books of the Bible but also other documents and people that have shaped and influenced the Christian religion over the years. The class attempts to study core tenets of our faith and beliefs. All are welcome to join us on any or all Sundays! Join teacher Jim Montgomery in this thoughtful discussion currently studying “The Confessions of St. Augustine.” This is a spiritual autobiography covering the first 35 years of Augustine’s life, with particular emphasis on his spiritual development and his conversion to Christianity.

Wrestlers (Room 226)
The Wrestler’s class is “Fighting the Good Fight” this fall.  What is the condition of your Spiritual Armor these days? Maybe a letter or two from the apostle Paul could re-equip you for the challenges that we face in today’s ever changing society. Join us as we revisit the Pastoral Epistles to Timothy and Titus and study the relationships between Doctrine and Duty and Belief and Behavior.  The Wrestler’s class has a rich tradition of discussing topics from all viewpoints and taking our lessons as a Call to Action. Join discussion facilitator David Goedtke and others in this lively class.

Faith Builders (Room 222)
Faith Builders is a biblically based study and discussion class and offers real, applicable life lessons and explorations into God’s Word that will make discovering God’s promises a reality. Each study enables the group to uncover a genuine understanding of God’s Word and how we all fit into God’s masterful plan.  The class is mainly made up of 30 to 40 year old women and men but we welcome and encourage anyone to attend.  Many new friendships have been cultivated through this class. This fall we will complete a 48 week study we started last year called “Divine Encounters in the Old Testament”.  This study will give you the opportunity to encounter God as you see how God divinely revealed Himself throughout His Word with all the heroes of the Old Testament.  The study provides new insight about God’s self-revelation in all our lives every day. Join teacher Mitch Turknett in this lively discussion class.
