THEOLOGY & THE CHURCH:
Join Rev. Dr. Paul Hooker, our Executive Presbyter, in room 225 as he leads a new adult class focused on four key theological ideas that underlie our notion of what it means to be the church:
~ Feb. 29: The Doctrine of the Trinity
~ March 7: The Doctrine of Providence
~ March 14: The Doctrine of Eschatology
~ March 28: The Doctrine of Election
Each week will involve exploring the theological idea, and then looking at its impact on how we go about our common life as Presbyterians. If you have never attended a class with Paul, you are in for a real treat!

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD:
Join Dr. Kolb in the Prayer Chapel for Centering Prayer. What is Centering Prayer? Centering Prayer is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. It is an exercise of faith, hope, and love. It is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion. It habituates us to the language of God which is silence. Centering Prayer is not a technique, a relaxation exercise, a form of self-hypnosis, a charismatic gift, or a para-psychological experience. It is not limited to the “felt” presence of God. During the prayer we avoid analyzing our experience, harboring expectations, or aiming at some specific goals such as: repeating the sacred word continuously, having no thoughts, making the mind blank, feeling peaceful or consoled, or achieving a spiritual experience. We sit quietly in the presence of God and allow ourselves to be loved by God, and to love God.
